Soft as a Wolf, Tough as a Lamb

Through the lens of the paradoxical phrase “Soft as a Wolf, Tough as a Lamb”, this exhibit is an evocative exploration of the complexities and dualities that define the Black male identity.

Whyms and Moultrie challenge and dismantle traditional stereotypes by presenting a narrative that is both powerful and tender, resilient and vulnerable. Through painting they highlight the unique ways in which Black men navigate various societal spaces.

By juxtaposing elements of strength and softness through expressionistic and impressionistic techniques, the exhibit provides a platform for redefining masculinity.
It offers an immersive journey through historical contexts, contemporary perspectives, and personal narratives, inviting visitors to engage deeply with the experiences of Black men.

This space fosters empathy, understanding, and a celebration of the rich, layered identities that defy simplistic categorizations.
